Four elements. Over 3,200 things to discover. Nova Craft is an alchemy puzzle game that starts you at the very beginning of existence and asks you to figure out the rest. Fire, water, earth, and air are your starting point, and from there the combinations branch outward into science concepts, mythical creatures, machines, historical events, and pretty much everything else humanity has ever thought of. It is the kind of game that is easy to open for ten minutes and close two hours later.

How Combining Works

The mechanic is as simple as it gets. Click and drag an element onto another one and see what they make. Earth and water might give you mud, or a swamp, or the conditions for life depending on the order and context. Each new discovery adds to your library on the left side of the screen, which you can sort by name, date, or icon, and search through as your collection grows. Right-clicking removes anything you no longer want cluttering the board.

Your progress saves automatically in your browser cache, and there is also an option to download it from the settings menu if you want to be safe across different devices or browsers.

Clicker Mode for Fast Discovery

If you are less interested in working out the recipes yourself and more interested in building out your library as quickly as possible, the clicker mode is worth knowing about. Drag an element into the creativity box and start clicking through items on the left panel to run combinations rapidly. It strips out the slow experimental pace and turns discovery into something closer to a collecting game. Both approaches are valid, and the game supports whichever one fits your mood.

What Makes It Worth Playing

The real appeal of Nova Craft is the curiosity loop. Combine two houses and you get a town. Add a castle to a town and you get a kingdom. Drop lava into an ocean and an island forms. Each discovery raises another question about what that new element might combine with, and following that thread is what keeps sessions going longer than planned. With 3,239 items in total there is always something new within a few combinations of wherever you currently are.
