About the Game
The pirate is standing there looking smug, and you have a cannon. That is the entire premise of Kick the Pirate, and it is exactly enough. This is a stress-relief clicker game in the same family as Kick the Zombie, Evil Santa, and Mad Doctor, swapping the undead and holiday themes for a grumpy seafarer who absolutely deserves everything coming to him. Bad day, long commute, difficult meeting: five minutes with this pirate tends to help.
How It Works
Click or tap the pirate to deal damage and earn coins. The health bar at the bottom of the screen tracks your progress through each level, and depleting it completely clears the level and moves you to the next one where the pirate gets progressively more resilient and, apparently, sassier.
Coins from each hit go toward unlocking better weapons, and the jump in satisfaction between punching with bare hands and sending the pirate airborne with a ship anchor is significant enough to make saving up for the next unlock genuinely motivating.
Weapons
The weapon selection runs from the classically appropriate to the delightfully absurd. The Flintlock Pistol is the straightforward starting option. The Bone Key Gun suggests someone raided a cursed treasure chest before arriving. The Battle Axe delivers heavy damage with appropriate impact.
The Ship Anchor does exactly what you would expect when swung at a pirate. The Cannon is self-explanatory and deeply satisfying. The TNT Barrel handles things at scale. The Rifle unlocks after a few rounds of escalating punishment and gives you a ranged option that the earlier weapons do not provide. Switching between unlocked weapons is handled through the buttons at the top of the screen.
Settings and Backgrounds
The blood splatter effect can be toggled off using the drop icon in the corner if you prefer a cleaner visual experience, which also makes the game more appropriate for younger players. Background scenes can be swapped through the button in the bottom left corner of the screen, and changing the setting keeps longer sessions from feeling visually repetitive. Sound can be adjusted from the settings in the top right corner.
Controls: Click or tap to attack. Coins unlock new weapons between levels.
