About the Game

If you have ever lost your internet connection and found yourself jumping a pixelated dinosaur over cacti in Google Chrome, you already know exactly what this game is. Dinosaur Game brings that same endless runner to your browser as a standalone experience that does not require a dropped connection to access.

There is no finish line, no end state, and no upper limit on how far you can go. There is just a T-rex, a desert full of thorny plants, and your own personal best waiting to be broken.

How the Running Works

The T-rex runs automatically and your only input is the jump. Cacti appear at varying distances and the dinosaur’s speed fluctuates throughout the run, sometimes accelerating and sometimes dropping back down, with a warning message appearing on screen when those speed changes happen.

The speed variation is what makes the game genuinely challenging rather than a simple rhythm game. A jump timing that works perfectly at one speed becomes wrong at another, and adapting to those changes quickly enough to survive the next obstacle is the skill the game is constantly testing.

Jump Timing

The margin for error on each cactus is smaller than it looks. Jumping too early from too far away means you land on or immediately past the plant rather than clearing it. Jumping too late puts you right into the thorns before you have left the ground. The ideal jump distance is close enough that the dinosaur clears the plant cleanly but not so close that the timing requires perfect reflexes at higher speeds. During the acceleration phases in particular, recalibrating that distance sense rather than relying on the timing that worked a moment ago at a lower speed is what keeps longer runs alive.

No End, Just Records

The game runs until you hit a plant, at which point your distance is recorded and you start again. There is no progression system, no unlocks, and no finish line to cross. The only goal is running further than your previous best, which turns each attempt into a direct competition with yourself rather than any external objective. That simplicity is exactly what made the Chrome version compelling during internet outages, and it holds up just as well as a deliberate choice of game.
