About the Game
A city reduced to ruins, a Sensei sending you in to find out what happened, ancient scrolls being extracted by enemy spells, and a Mythical Phoenix whose soul core needs to be recovered from the creatures that took it. Dark Ninja Hanjo is a 2D action adventure game with fifteen levels set in desolate environments, a narrative driven by Sensei’s guidance and mission objectives, and enough weapon and character variety to give each session a distinct feel depending on your loadout choices.
Following the Missions
Sensei functions as both narrator and mission giver, directing you through the ruined city and warning you to stay aware of your surroundings. The purple beams you encounter early in the game are the visual signature of the enemy spell extracting the ancient scrolls, and investigating and stopping the Extractor is the central objective that the first missions build toward. The Mythical Phoenix mission represents a significant escalation, requiring you to defeat two UzunaWolf enemies to recover the soul core, and arriving at that encounter with proper weapons and ammunition makes the difference between a difficult fight and an overwhelming one.
Weapons and Combat
Five weapon types cover different combat ranges and approaches. Katanas and Dual Katanas are the close-range options, with Fists available for players who prefer the most direct contact. The Arrow Bow and Spear give you ranged capability that the melee weapons cannot provide, and Shurikens purchased from the Store add a projectile option that is particularly useful on levels where closing distance with enemies is risky. Switching weapons with E during combat lets you adapt to the specific enemy type you are facing rather than committing to a single approach for the entire level.
Characters and the Store
Four characters are available: Heavenly Wolf, Flash Hayate, Demon Tsukana, and Shinobi Ashura, each with their own visual identity and implied playstyle. The Store covers character customization, weapon purchases, ammunition, and energy top-ups, and visiting it before a difficult level to ensure your projectile supply is adequate is a preparation step that pays off in the later missions where ranged combat options matter more than in the earlier ones.
Controls: WASD or arrow keys to move, Space to jump, left mouse button to attack, right mouse button to use projectile, R to change projectile, X for special move, E to change weapon, T to change power, C for camera view, P to pause.
