Space combat games often lose their sense of scale by keeping everything close and fast. Alien Sky Invasion commits to the infinite void premise, placing you in open space with enemy ships visible at a distance before they close to attack range. The radar in the upper right corner extends that awareness further, showing threats before they enter your visual field and giving you the positional information to make tactical decisions before engagements begin.
Two modes cover different approaches to the same combat environment. Invasion mode gives you specific mission objectives: your first task is destroying 30 enemy ships, and subsequent missions build on that baseline with different requirements.
The structure of Invasion mode keeps individual sessions goal-directed rather than open-ended, which suits players who prefer a clear target for each session. Campaign mode extends to 100 levels with increasing complexity as you progress, providing a long-form progression path that Invasion mode’s mission structure does not offer. The level milestones at 75, 100, and 125 provide permanent bonuses that compound with earlier upgrades, giving the Campaign mode a genuine long-term payoff for sustained investment.
Six jet aircraft are available with distinct performance profiles across damage, armor, energy, and speed. The access level required to unlock each one creates a natural progression sequence where early aircraft handle the initial difficulty appropriately and later aircraft become necessary as enemy capabilities increase. Checking the unlock level of each aircraft before committing to an upgrade path helps prioritize which aspects of the campaign to focus on first.
Two weapon types cover different combat situations. Lasers are the reliable baseline, available on demand and effective against targets you can track continuously. Missiles add a lock-on capability that maintains contact with moving targets after launch, which makes them more effective against fast-moving ships that change direction frequently. The requirement to aim precisely at a target before launching is the trade-off, which makes missiles less useful in chaotic multi-target situations where continuous aim tracking is difficult.
The self-repairing armor unlocked at level 75 changes the survival calculation significantly. Before that milestone, damage management requires active care. After it, sustained combat that would previously have required retreating to regenerate becomes manageable, which opens up more aggressive approaches to the enemy ship concentrations that populate the higher-level missions.
